Gabriella Handford, Class of 2020 at Wakefield School, is enrolling at Virginia Military Institute as a Biology major this fall and and wants to pursue a career in healthcare or healthcare policy after graduating. She's been interested in these fields for years; the summer after her sophomore year, she volunteered at a critical access hospital in a small town in Idaho, which is where she became fascinated by rural medicine. Working in the small-town emergency department, she began to learn about the inner workings of a rural hospital. Choosing this topic for her senior thesis has allowed Gabriella to learn more about the hospital where she volunteered.
