ONE HUNDRED MILES FROM HELP:

The Three Root Causes of the Rural Medical Crisis

Arrow Down

ABSTRACT

Rural America is often lauded for its spaciousness, its serenity, its distance from the hustle and bustle of urban life. However, beneath the serene facade, many rural Americans are medically underserved, which means that they do not have adequate access to healthcare. The combination of a lack of healthcare infrastructure, a higher likelihood of having comorbidities like heart disease or obesity, and a lower average socioeconomic status of the general population has caused the rural medical crisis to become an ever-expanding issue for America.
